About

Brian

Brian Rabacal (b.1975, Philippines) is a self-taught emerging artist currently living in Bendigo, Central Victoria in Australia.  He has been drawing since early childhood. Although, in his early adult life, he was quite skilled at creating realistic portraits, he did not seriously pursue being an artist due to lack of support and opportunities.

When he moved to Australia, he started drawing and painting to pass the time while on the tedious job hunting process. Thanks to social media, friends started noticing his artistic talent and commissioned him to create realistic portraits of their families.

Moving to Bendigo in 2013 opened further opportunities for him. It was at the now defunct VPHG (View Point Handmade Gallery) where he and his wife had their very first group art exhibition, together with many other emerging artists in the city and region.

Brian works mostly in charcoal, pastel, acrylic and oil. His greatest obsession in visual arts is creating detailed, realistic portraits.  When not drawing or painting, he loves cooking delicious Filipino foods, which skill his friends can attest to being at par with his skill in producing realistic drawings.
