When Brian first moved to Bendigo (and while waiting for his P-plate), he often spent time at Peter Krenz Leisure Centre in Eaglehawk assisting swim teachers. In between hours and while waiting for his lift, he would hang out at Our Shed and paint and assist others in arts or woodworking.

One time, he decided to bring a blank canvas and using acrylics, paint this beautiful native Australian bird, and of course, this photo shows the result.

This painting is now in a private collection in Victoria, Australia.
