Easter Dawn

In 2016, Brian once again joined the Easter Paint Out, one of the events/attractions at the Bendigo Easter Festival. This time, he came to Rosalind Park a bit better prepared with a few of his other artworks for people to look at…and a couple of balloons to say, “Hey! We’re here!”

On the third day, as usual, the finished artworks were exhibited at the Conservatory, also in Rosalind Park. Volunteers were present to get the public’s votes on which painting they loved best. Rohan Philips, who was tasked with organising the paint out event, was present along with art patron and city councillor Rod Fyffe, and Naomi, who represented Arthouse Direct, the generous sponsor of the Paint Out.

For the second time in a row, Brian won the People’s Choice Award!

Here are some of the participating artists who were present at the awarding ceremony.

And of course, Brian just had to have his photo taken with his award winning painting.

‘Easter Dawn’ is Brian’s interpretation of what might have been the scenario outside the tomb on the dawn of Easter, moments after Christ came out of the tomb and before Mary Magdalene and the other women came to visit the tomb. He felt that Christ must have looked up to the heavens with indescribable joy and righteous pride at having finally accomplished His major mission on earth. At last, conquering spiritual and physical death would be possible for all mankind.

A few weeks after the Paint Out, ‘Easter Dawn’ was purchased by a friend and is now in private collection in Victoria, Australia.
